Our United States Constitution and Habeas Corpus Have Been Shot Down by the Military Commissions Act of 2006.
These words regarding the United States Constitution are being written in the third week of October, 2006.
Why is this week important? It’s the week president George W. Bush signed the Military Commissions Act of 2006 into law.
The day was October 17, 2006. This will go down as one of the most grievous days in American history.
Probably the saddest part of this treachery against American ideals and the freedoms of the people is that the people didn’t even notice.
Americans paid no attention to the fact that this week is the beginning of the end of a free America and the United States Constitution.

Why is this day so threatening to our United States Constitution?
Because the Military Commissions Act of 2006 does away with the “Writ of Habeas Corpus.
In a BBC News article from March 9, 2005, Habeas Corpus is explained:

“Habeas corpus (ad subjiciendum) is Latin for "you may have the body" (subject to
examination). It is a writ which requires a person detained by the authorities be brought before a court of law so that the legality of the detention may be examined.
The name is taken from the opening words of the writ in medieval times. Although rarely used nowadays, it can theoretically be demanded by anyone who believes they are unlawfully detained and it is issued by a judge.
“It does not determine guilt or innocence, merely whether the person is legally imprisoned. It may also be writ against a private individual detaining another. If the charge is considered to be valid, the person must submit to trial but if not, the person goes free. The Habeas Corpus Act passed by Parliament in 1679 guaranteed this right in law, although its origins go back much further, probably to Anglo-Saxon times.”
In Brown v. Vasquez, 952 F.2d 1164, 1166 (9th Cir. 1991), cert. denied, 112 S.Ct. 1778 (1992), the court observed that the Supreme Court has “recognized the fact that the writ of habeas corpus is the fundamental instrument for safeguarding individual freedom against arbitrary and lawless state action.”
