ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: NOT ALL SCIENTISTS AGREE
This section of arguments against global warming uses quotes sourced from a Global Warming FAQ at cei.org.
Many of the media stories and movies like Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” make it seem like global warming is an absolute fact, that every scientist agrees with the theory, and that arguments against global warming don’t exist. This just isn’t true. Many scientists express arguments against global warming.

- “There is no ‘scientific consensus’ that global warming will cause damaging
climate change. Claims that there is mis-characterize the scientific research of
bodies like the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
(IPCC) and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS).”
Also, you need to be careful that the numbers and studies you read about aren’t being blatantly exaggerated or misquoted:
- “The news that Oxford University has found that temperatures may increase by up
to 11°C severely misrepresents the scientific findings. According to the actual
scientific paper, the frequency distribution of the results suggests that the lower
end of temperature rises, in the 2°C to 4°C range, is the most likely.”
One of the greatest arguments against global warming is that our politicians are proposing and implementing plans where there are countries exempt from so-called “solutions”:
- “The Kyoto Protocol, most observers agree, will have virtually no effect on
temperature increase, as it imposes no restrictions on greenhouse gas emissions
upon major developing nations like China and India. These nations have publicly
refused to accept any restrictions now or in the future.”
As we’ll see in some of the arguments against global warming below, this whole thing may be more about money and control than it is about any environmental dangers.
ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: STEALING WEALTH?

In this particular article, the issue of not including some countries in the Climate Change and Kyoto Protocol is addressed as well as giving us insight into why global warming has been fabricated by the United Nations (What is the United Nations?).
- “Undeveloped Third-World nations will be free to produce whatever they want. These will include China, India, Brazil and Mexico. And guess what? 82% of the projected emissions growth in coming years is from these countries. Now ask yourself, if the Climate Change Protocol is all about protecting the environment - then how come it doesn't cover everybody?
The truth, of course, is that the treaty is really about redistribution of the wealth. The wealth of the United States is and has always been the target. The new scheme to grab the loot is through environmental scare tactics.”
ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: COMPUTERS FLAWED
In another of the arguments against global warming, the Global Warming article at clearlight.com calls into question the computer programs that the United Nations use for most of its conclusions:
- “While computer climate models may eventually be able to predict future climate change, so far the ones we have are very unreliable - unable even to accurately predict current climate conditions using current climate data. It will be some time before computer models will be able to reliably predict future climate change. Meanwhile, policy-makers like the United Nations and the Clinton/Gore Administration contend that we do not have time to wait.”
“Right now I do not have confidence that changes in sea ice and clouds are done correctly in climate models. The annual cycle is not correct in many models, so why should it be correct in climate change [projections]?”
- Kevin Trenberth, head of climate analysis at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo.
Aside from computer programs that can’t accurately predict global warming, another of the arguments against global warming is that many of the scientists that purport that the problem exists do so for financial gain.
- “And then there are those who yearn for a certain outcome and set about creating the needed data to make it so. Usually you will find this group of scientists greatly dependent on grants supplied by those with a specific political agenda who demand desired outcomes for their money.”

It’s interesting to note that much of NASA’s shuttle funding is justified by “earth-directed environmental research” rather than space exploration.
ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: UNITED NATIONS HOAX?
The American Policy Center article continues its argument against global warming with:
- “And the deceit knows no bounds. The United Nations released a report at the end of 1996 saying Global Warming was a fact, yet before releasing the report two key paragraphs were deleted from the final draft. Those two paragraphs, written by the scientists who did the actual scientific analysis said:
- 1. "none of the studies cited above has shown clear evidence that we can attribute the observed climate changes to increases in greenhouse gases."
- 2. "no study to date has positively attributed all or part of the climate change to ...man-made causes."
The article continues:
- “Global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the people of the world - bar none. Those who have been fighting against the green agenda have been warning that modern-day environmentalism has nothing whatsoever to do with protecting the environment.
Rather, it is a political movement led by those who seek to control the world economies, dictate development and redistribute the world's wealth. They use the philosophical base of Karl Marx, the tactics of Adolph Hitler and the rhetoric of the Sierra Club. The American people have been assaulted from all directions by rabid environmentalists.”
ARGUMENTS AGAINST GLOBAL WARMING: IRON MOUNTAIN
Now, the arguments against global warming search has gotten us into much different territory than just whether scientists agree or disagree or whether the computers can handle the job.
